Kari Dunn Saratovsky
VP, Social Innovation
Kari Dunn Saratovsky joined the Case Foundation in November of 2006 after directing the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, a presidential commission to support and expand volunteer service throughout the country and around the world. A Midwesterner at heart and a political junkie at her core, Kari’s passion for social change is something she tries to incorporate into every part of her life.
Kari brings nearly a decade of experience in the government and nonprofit sectors, but her favorite role is that of a connector -- connecting passionate people, good ideas, and new approaches in an effort to address social problems. Here at Case, she’s channeling that energy into the development of Social Citizens, an initiative to spotlight the rising generation of Millennials and how they are affecting the very nature of social change.
Ditching her high heels and dress suits back in our nation’s capital, Kari made her way to San Francisco earlier this year. We are thrilled to have a foundation presence on the West Coast, but when she proclaimed, “Philanthropy is like a slowly decanted, fine red wine -- there is a depth of complexity, but as it ages to perfection, the result is a deeply satisfying richness, brimming with opportunity and good taste,” we thought, either she’s more clever when she’s had a few, or she’s just spending too much time in Napa. We’re fine either way.
