Kristin Ivie

Program Manager, Social Innovation

Kristin has been with the Case Foundation since February 2008 but has been close to it since 2005 when she was working for the Buxton Initiative, one of the Case Foundation's grantees. She first joined the team to help support the U.S.-Palestinian Partnership, an initiative chaired by CEO Jean Case, which aims to promote economic and educational opportunities for the Palestinian people. She also focuses on implementing the Foundation’s programs to build capacity in nonprofits through the use of social media and other new technology and to explore how the Millennial Generation uniquely supports causes they care about.

After receiving her B.A. in journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill, Kristin joined the Buxton Initiative, which fosters interfaith and intercultural understanding through dialogue. Kristin left Buxton to spend several months in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, working with grassroots humanitarian projects and local handicrafts businesses and learning to love injera (Ethiopian flat bread). Even though she’s now back on this side of the pond, she believes in Dr. Cornel West’s idea that “justice is what love looks like in public” and feels passionately about investing in the world’s underserved.

When she's not contemplating social return on investment, you can probably find Kristin engaged in one of her favorite activities – trash talking on behalf of her UNC Tar Heels, looking for the bulldog she will adopt someday, and changing the world through the power of cupcakes.
