ABC's of giving: part 1, A - H
At this time of year we are surrounded by images of brightly wrapped presents, packages and bags with surprises inside. This year I realize my thinking about giving has changed. I want to participate in my community more than I have before. Since the needs are so great and I started to think about what is needed and how I can choose what to do. Starting at the very beginning, I built a simple list. Here is the beginning of the ABC's of Giving:
- Apples - support teachers by giving classroom supplies at www.DonorChoose.org
- Blood - find out about donating blood at www.RedCross.org
- Coats - participate in a local winter coat drive www.GoodWill.org
- Dogs- support your local humane society. Check out www.spca.com
- Earth - learn more about recycling and conservation www.climatecrisis.net/pdf/10things.pdf
- Friendship - write an email to a soldier at www.emailourmilitary.com
- Groceries - contribute to your local food bank
- Health - participate in Malaria No More at www.malarianomore.com
I to R coming in Part II and S to Z coming in Part III.

The ABCs of Giving
Excellent! You have given us web sites that we can use to get started on the road to better giving. I am on a fixed, very low income. I find that I want to do so much, and health and money seem to stop me. But writing a letter or encouraging others costs nothing. These links also have links, most likely. So where we begin is not where we end. Thank you!
