While their issues vary, the partners profiled here demonstrate the many ways they embody our core strategies of collaboration, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

Share Our Strength
With visionary leadership, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a collaborative approach to ending hunger, Share Our Strength exemplifies the traits the Case Foundation values in its partnerships. In 1984, in response to a devastating famine in Ethiopia, founder and executive director Bill Shore set out to create an innovative nonprofit that would inspire and organize individuals and businesses to share their strengths to help end hunger. Through its Taste of the Nation events, cause-related marketing, and corporate partnerships, Share Our Strength has raised more than $180 million to support more than 1,000 anti- hunger and anti-poverty programs worldwide.

Share Our Strength has raised more than $180 million to support more than 1,000 anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs worldwide. In addition to supporting Share Our Strength's national efforts, the Case Foundation and the Sodexo Foundation have provided funding for "Ending Childhood Hunger in the Nation's Capital: A Plan to Ensure that Every District of Columbia Child Has Daily Access to Nutritious Food within 10 Years." The initiative, led by Share Our Strength, D.C. Hunger Solutions, and the Food Research and Action Center, is bringing together public and private leaders to design and implement a 10-year strategic plan to end childhood hunger in the District of Columbia, where nearly 45,000 children are food insecure.

The Case Foundation has also formed a working relationship with Community Wealth Ventures, Inc. (CWV), a for-profit subsidiary of Share Our Strength. CWV helps nonprofit organizations become more self-sustaining by generating revenue through business ventures and corporate partnerships.

The Case Foundation has also supported Share Our Strength's international work in Ethiopia. Together, Share Our Strength and the Case Foundation have invested in Project Mercy, an organization that offers an integrated set of social services in Ethiopia, including emergency feeding, job training, health care, agricultural development, and education. Last year, Project Mercy opened the doors to its new full-service hospital providing high-quality care and services rarely found in Ethiopia.
