Promote Your Cause Online: New Tools
Two online trends present an enormous opportunity for charities and for people who are passionate about a cause.  First, people are creating online platforms to express themselves and connect with like-minded folks -- on YouTube, Flickr, blogs, and sites like MySpace and Facebook.  Second, the main reason people give money is because someone asked them -- especially someone they know.  Savvy nonprofits will bring these two trends together by helping turn people with platforms into fundraisers for their favorite causes.

This fundraising season, that's easier than ever.  An array of useful tools make it simple for a charity or a supporter to promote their causes anywhere they are active online:
  • Network for Good's Charity Badge: Raise awareness and money for any cause with a badge on your blog, social networking site, Web page, or e-mail. Charity badges can be used to collect and track donations via Network for Good to more than one million U.S.-based charities. Users can feature their own photos and video, text, and charity links on the badges, which track donations in real time.
  • Word of Blog Badges: Create a badge that has your logo and cause and links to your website. This is especially useful for advocacy efforts.
  • ChipIn Badges: Fundraise for a friend or charity with a badge that features a thermometer and fundraising goal, then embed it on your blog, social networking site, Web page, or e-mail.
