What does the Case Foundation do?

The Case Foundation invests in people and ideas that can change the world. We don’t limit ourselves to any one sector or issue; rather, we partner across industries and search across issues to identify opportunities where innovation is needed to address an urgent challenge. We find and fund efforts that break down barriers and divisions, challenge the status quo and offer new solutions to ever-evolving problems.

How did the Foundation get started?

Following their successful business careers and the founding of AOL, Steve and Jean Case established the Case Foundation in 1997.

What are some of the Foundation’s key initiatives?

Our work generally falls into three core pillars: Revolutionizing Philanthropy, Unleashing Entrepreneurship and Igniting Civic Engagement. The interplay between the three pillars is at the heart of everything we do and where we believe real impact can improve the human condition, reduce social and economic inequalities that erode the social fabric and build partnerships and communities that ground peaceful and prosperous nations.

Who does the Foundation fund?

At the Case Foundation, we invest our resources in programs and initiatives that complement our approach to philanthropy. Our grants and time are focused on partnerships that we develop proactively with nonprofits, businesses, local communities and like-minded foundations. We do not review or consider unsolicited proposals.

Who are the Foundation’s partners?

The Case Foundation recognizes that every sector has a role to play and assets to contribute, and that public-private partnerships can create powerful results. Accordingly, the Foundation works with nonprofits, other like-minded foundations, organizations, businesses, government and individuals. Some of these entities are considered strategic partners, as they are aligned with our key goals, and often support similar projects and organizations. We also work with like-minded nonprofit and for-profit organizations on specific campaigns, typically in a marketing or promotional capacity. Additionally, we offer expertise, funding and other resources to national and international organizations whose missions and endeavors we support.
